“Love one another….” John 13:34

So much of the suffering in this world comes from hurt people hurting people. It’s opposite to the calling to “love one another.” So how do we choose to be part of the healing of the Body of Christ?

The song lyrics that come to mind are “they will know we are Christians by our love.” Do we love like this? When we think of our family and friends we may have challenges. All families have challenges and suffering. Yet outside of our immediate circle, are we able to love?

What would it look like to truly love one another? Jesus said there was no greater love than to lay down one’s life for a friend. He did this for us. How can we lay down our lives for Jesus and for others?

Dedicate a few minutes to pray and reflect:

Take a deep breath and exhale

Make the sign of the cross (in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit)

Jesus please help me to reflect on Your Word. Speak to my heart, speak to my soul, and guide me always through Your Holy Spirit.

Our Father, who art in Heaven Hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Holy Mother, please help us to stay open to God’s will. You said yes to God, help us to say yes to our Triune God.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art though among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death amen.
